Recording Time and Generating Invoices
Recording Time Entries
From any case, click "Add Time Entry" to log your work. Enter the date, duration, activity description, and billing rate. Time entries are linked to the case and the solicitor who performed the work.
Billing Models
Firm Chambers supports three billing models:
- Hourly: Time entries are billed at the solicitor's hourly rate.
- Fixed Fee: A set fee is agreed for the entire matter or specific stages.
- Retainer: Clients pay a recurring amount that is drawn down as work is performed.
Generating Invoices
Navigate to the Billing section and click "Create Invoice". Select the client, case, and the time entries or fixed fees to include. Review the draft, add any disbursements, and finalise the invoice.
Sending Invoices
Finalised invoices can be sent directly to the client via email or made available through the client portal. Clients receive a notification with a link to view and download the invoice.
Tracking Payments
Record payments against invoices as they are received. The billing dashboard shows outstanding balances, overdue invoices, and payment history at a glance.
